Martinsburg’s Historic McFarland House – Bridal Shower Paradise
Written by Laura Knock
When my sister got engaged, my mother and I had to make sure that we went all out to ensure she had a perfect bridal shower. After scouring for the perfect location we set our eyes on the Historic McFarland House located in Martinsburg. The McFarland House is best known for its extravagant events – girl’s nights out, date nights, chef showdowns, weddings and being an incredible bridal shower paradise
When first meeting with the event coordinator, my sister had immediately expressed that she wanted her bridal shower party to be Kentucky Derby themed. Once the table cloths, flowers and vases were decided upon, Chef Brad was introduced to us. Chef Brad Spates is a culinary mastermind. He took every idea that we had into account and transformed the cuisine into an authentic Kentucky Derby meal. We enjoyed mint julips, pecan pie, chocolate truffles, crackers with a divine assortment of cheeses and SO many other goodies. (Check the pictures out below – beware, you might get hungry!)
The inside of the building is an absolute dream, but staying with the Kentucky Derby theme, my sister decided to stay outdoors. The garden was in full bloom and the sky was clear but the staff was ready to move everything inside in a moment’s notice on the off chance that it began to rain. Some of their staff purposely moved lawn furniture out of the way just so we could have a Kentucky Derby race game as well.
Overall, the Historic McFarland House is a bridal shower paradise. The food is amazing and perfectly tailored to meet the needs of any event, the staff is quick and reliable and the décor is to fantasize about. Whether it be a bridal shower, wedding or formal event, the Historic McFarland House is always a win! Check out their link below for other events.
